More to come: Sukkur DIG directs police to continue ongoing operation

More than 4,000 arrests have been made in the last three months, says the DIG.

SUKKUR: The police must continue their ongoing operation in the four districts of Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur and Naushero Feroz, said Sukkur DIG Sharjeel Kareem Kharal.

Talking to The Express Tribune on Tuesday, Kharal said police have managed to bust 36 criminal gangs while arresting a total of 713 alleged offenders and 3,556 absconders in the four districts during the last three months.

According to him, 39 encounters took place between the police and bandits in Sukkur district, during which seven bandits were injured and a total of 63 were arrested. Sukkur police recovered five Kalashnikov rifles, 14 shotguns, 46 pistols and a revolver along with ammunition. Besides this, the police busted 10 criminal gangs and managed to arrest 110 proclaimed offenders and 501 absconders. Sukkur police also recovered more than 10 kilogrammes of narcotics and 35 bottles of wine.



In Ghotki, police busted five criminal gangs and arrested 40 bandits, with a total of 34 encounters taking place between police and criminals. Besides this, police also arrested 160 proclaimed offenders and 1,040 absconders while recovering four Kalashnikov rifles, 11 shot guns, two revolvers and 45 pistols along with ammunition. Besides this, Ghotki police also recovered three kilogrammes of drugs, 19 bottles of wine and 91 litres of contraband alcohol.

The Khairpur district saw a total of 73 encounters, during which three bandits were killed while three were injured and 83 were arrested. Khairpur police also arrested 292 offenders and 1,191 absconders while recovering 11 Kalashnikov rifles, three rifles, 23 shot guns, three revolvers, 62 pistols and ammunition. Police also recovered 442 kilogrammes of narcotics and 35 wine bottles.

In Naushero Feroze, police arrested 12 bandits, 151 offenders and 824 absconders. Two Kalashnikov rifles, nine shot guns, two revolvers, 40 pistols, 128 rounds and 43 cartridges were recovered from the criminals. Besides this, police also recovered 68 kilogrammes of narcotics and 109 bottles of wine.
