Armed invasion: Robbers steal truckloads of cooking oil

The USC’s administration estimated a total loss of about Rs2.5 million.

Armed bandits looted two truckloads of cooking oil and ghee from the warehouse of Utility Store Corporation (USC) Abbottabad, police said on Monday.


According to Mirpur Police SHO Arshad Mehmood, watchman Zardad told them he was with another watchman on duty at the warehouse on Sunday night when 10 armed robbers disguised as policemen barged into the warehouse and locked them up in the washroom.


The culprits remained at the warehouse for about three hours. During this time, they loaded the tin cans of cooking oil and ghee in two trucks belonging to the USC and then escaped. The police report also stated the robbers stole Rs150,000 cash from the lockers. The USC’s administration estimated a total loss of about Rs2.5 million.


A similar incident occurred last month when robbers looted two truckloads of grocery items from the USC’s warehouse in Haripur. The police have been unable to trace the whereabouts of the culprits.
