ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Water and Power said that Munda dam was in the country’s interest and would help stove off the possibility of flood damage. The committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Senator Zahid Khan on Friday. The committee said Munda dam was an important project as it would help generate 740 megawatts of electricity and store 1.3 million acre feet of water. The dam’s two planned canals on the right and left banks will help irrigate nearly 30,000 acres of farmland in Mohmand Agency, Tangi tehsil in Charsadda district and Malakand Agency, the Senate committee was briefed.
