The four alleged extortionists, Maqsood Ali, Rajab Ali, Govind alias Chatri and Abdullah, were presented by the police before a judge. According to the prosecution, the accused had demanded Rs200,000 from a businessman and had threatened to kill him if he refused to pay.
The suspects were arrested during a raid on December 11 and an FIR was registered at the Preedy police station under Sections 385 (putting a person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code along with Section 7 of the Anti-terrorism Act 1997.
