KARACHI:

Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) has decided to open an intermediate college at its Malir campus, according to a statement on Wednesday.

It was also decided that a technical training centre will be set up. SMIU vice-chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh said there were many schools around its campus but there was no intermediate college within the immediate reach of the local students, who belong mostly to low-income families.

“It is the same objective that was behind the establishment of Sindh Madressatul Islam,” he said.

He further said that SMIU had decided to equip the young generation with technical education by opening up a training centre.

He said electrical engineering, agriculture, woodwork, plumbing and sewing skills would be started for both male and female students.
