KARACHI: The Sindh government on Monday removed Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Owais Muzaffar from the post of Karachi Water Sewerage Board (KWSB) chairperson, Express News reported.
Earlier, the ministries of health and local government were also taken away from Muzaffar.
Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon will now be taking care of the KWSB.
The appointment of Muzaffar as the chairperson of KWSB had come as a surprise to many, including members of the opposition parties in Sindh Assembly as the post was traditionally held by the city mayor or district Nazim.
Muzaffar – during his short tenure – took strict action against those involved in tanker mafia and demolished many illegal water hydrants.
Muzaffar is former president Asif Ali Zardari’s foster brother and was known by his nickname Tappi – an alias he disowns now.
He contested the May 11 elections from PS-88, Ghora Bari, in Thatta.
