MUZAFFARABAD:

A family from Mirpur along with dozens of their neighbours staged a protest on Wednesday in front of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly to seek justice against the alleged murder of their family members.

According to details, a woman of Mirpur Nosheen Raja, accused the Mirpur police of backing the alleged killers of her father, two brothers and three uncles who have been killed by their cousins one by one during the last decade to grab their land.

The AJK Inspector General of Police Malik Khudabaksh Awan took notice of the protest and formed a committee comprising senior police officers to investigate the issue.

“The Mirpur police have not investigated the murder of seven people of my family. They have freed all the alleged killers,” said Raja while talking to The Express Tribune.

She said the police have been favouring the alleged killers since a long time and last week, officials of the Thothal Police Station arrested her family members, including kids and incarcerated them for more than a week.
