Road accidents: Four policemen killed, four injured

Four policemen were killed and four others were injured in two road accidents in Faisalabad on Wednesday.


A police spokesman said that six City Toba Tek Singh police officials were travelling on a van when the driver lost control of the vehicle on Khekha Road.

The spokesman said that the van collided with a tree resulting in the death of Sub Inspector Haji Sultan Ali, Constable Tanveer Ahmad and Constable Imran.

He said the injured, Sub Inspector Mian Muhammad Akram, Constable Mubashar Naeem and driver Tanveer Abbas, were taken to Toba Tek Singh district headquarters hospital where their condition was later reported to be out of danger.



Toba Tek Singh District Police Officer Shehzad Asif expressed grief over the incident. He said the families of the deceased would be provided assistance in accordance with the law. Separately, a police constable was killed and another injured in an accident in Gulberg. Constables Waris Ali and Asghar Ali were on a patrol duty on Eid Gah Road when a speeding bus hit the motorcycle they were riding.  They were taken to a hospital, where Waris Ali succumbed to his injuries. Asghar Ali was said to be out of danger. The bus driver, identified as Muhammad Imtiaz of Millat Town, was arrested.
