Four casualties: Two more die in well digging incident

Two more labourers died on Monday after being critically wounded on Sunday while digging a well in Togh Sarai, Hangu. The additional casualties have pushed the death toll to four. Two others remain injured.


According to Saddar police official Islamuddin, labourer Sanaullah Khan, his son Safiullah, Muhammad Quddus and Bakhtiar Ahmed were identified among the dead.

“Quddus and Ahmed were earlier recovered alive and had been rushed to Kohat Divisional Hospital in critical condition. They later succumbed to their injuries,” said Islamuddin. The two survivors have been identified as Zahid Ali and Ameer Hamza.

Sunday afternoon, six labourers were buried alive under a mound of mud which caved in on them as they dug a well in Togh Sarai.  The six men had been hired to dig a well inside a house. When the mud caved in, residents informed patrol police about the incidents and started rescue efforts. Sanaullah and his son Safiullah died on Sunday.
