Restlessness: Man commits suicide over delay in marriage

Police said he had been pressing his parents for the wedding, but they had refused.

A 25-year-old man committed suicide in Malikwal, Mandi Bahauddin on Monday over a delay in his marriage.


Police said the Mohallah Sheranwala resident was engaged to be married soon, but his parents had told him to wait. They had told him that they did not have enough money for his marriage.

Police said he had been pressing his parents for the wedding, but they had refused. On Monday, he swallowed poisonous tablets. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a few hours later. Also on Monday, six people were taken to Civil Hospital in Gujranwala district after they attempted suicide. Police said two women swallowed poisonous pills in Satellite Town and Daska after they had and argument with her family.  Two men of Wahdat Colony and Daska drank acid after they were scolded by their parents over staying away from home for long hours. Two people in Khokhar and Girjhak swallowed poisonous pills over unemployment.
