Police said the suspect, named Farrukh Khokhar, was brought to a Rawalpindi court for the hearing of the Sabira Bibi murder case and managed to flee while he was being taken back the Adiala Jail.
According to Express News correspondent Imran Asghar, around 25 armed men fought with the police and helped Farrukh run away.
Sabra Bibi was murdered on August 17, 2012 reportedly over a property dispute.
Bibi and her husband Raja Yaqoob were present at the disputed place in Dhoke Gangal on that day to give their statements to local commissioner when Imtiaz alias Taji Khokhar’s gunmen shot her.
Taji is the younger brother of former National Assembly speaker Nawaz Khokhar and Farrukh’s father.
