KARACHI: Ghazanfar Mehmood maintained his consistent show to annex the 3rd Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Amateur Golf Championship that concluded at the Royal Palm Golf Course in Lahore on Sunday.

The Rawalpindi golfer, who surpassed Mohammad Rehman on day two for the top spot, scored 71 in the final round, accumulating a gross of 211 in three rounds to win the title with a clear margin of nine strokes.



Abdul Rehman, leading the opening round with 71, had to make do in second position with an aggregate of 220 in the championship. He scored 75 on the last day, improving his performance of 80 in the penultimate round.

Multan’s Zulfiqar Ali secured third position with a total of 226, followed by Tariq Mehmood of Navy with a final card of 228. Sajid Khan of the Arabian Sea Country Club completed the top five line-up after scoring 229.

In the contest for net honours, Salman Jehangir finished on top with a three-day net score of 218 followed by Saleem Raza (219) and Rizwan Aslam 219. The female gross winner was Zaibun Nisa of Royal Palm Golf Club.

Meanwhile, a match between the Navy North and Navy South was won by the latter side comprising Khan Hasham bin Siddique, Capt  Ansar Mehmood, CDRE Mohammed Amjad, CDRE Saad bin Jabbar, Capt Atif Shah, Ather Mukhtar, CDR Ahmed Hussain and Lt Cdr Saeed Khattak.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammed Asif Sandila was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony.
