Multiple violations: Several vehicles fined, impounded

Secretary of the Islamabad Transport Authority on Saturday conducted surprise traffic checking on various routes.

ISLAMABAD: The secretary of the Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) on Saturday conducted surprise traffic checking on various routes and fined 65 public transport vehicles for not paying road tax. Secretary ITA Lubna Dayal also impounded 15 vehicles and imposed fines amounting to Rs51,300. The action was taken against violators which were involved in route violations and did not have route permits, according to an official. Similarly, action was also taken against vehicles using two Compress Natural Gas (CNG) cylinders. She directed transporters to get their CNG cylinder kits certified by the Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan regularly in order to ensure safety of human lives.
