Mehmood leads with four-under par 140

Replaces Rehman in top spot at golf championship.

KARACHI:

Ghazanfar Mehmood took the lead in the 3rd Chief of Naval Staff Golf Championship at the end of the second round at the Royal Palm Golf Course in Lahore on Saturday.

Mehmood replaced Muhammad Rehman on the top spot with a score of 140. Rehman’s score after two rounds was 145.

Mehmood rose to the top spot with his aggressive game. He birdied the first hole and followed it with regulation pars on holes two to eight. He stumbled a little on the ninth and tenth holes, but found his focus and performed well on the following eight holes.

“I am very pleased with my stroke-making,” said Mehmood in a press statement. “I enjoyed every shot and I feel confident about the final round on Sunday too.”

In the women’s championship, Zaibun Nisa emerged as the gross winner. She defeated national champion Ghazala Yasmin, who finished second, while Maryam Khan secured the third place.
