The biggest celebrities of the American music and film industry arrived at the 41st American Music Awards (AMAs) in Los Angeles on Sunday. Here, we rundown the best red carpet looks from the evening:

Nicole Richie



When Nicole Richie was photographed back in August at a beach in Malibu, her gaunt frame led people to speculate that she might be battling an eating disorder. However, at the awards night, she looked beautifully toned and healthy. Richie wore a stunning white cut-out Emilio Pucci gown, which she paired with a gold link necklace and earrings.

Taylor Swift



Taylor Swift was the golden girl of the night. The five-time AMA nominee was dressed in a sexy Julien Macdonald Fall 2013 mini dress, which featured a sheer panel on the bodice. The belt added oomph to her outfit. She matched her sparkly dress with Jimmy Choo Madison strappy sandals. We love her bed head waves, smokey eye make-up and nude lips.

Miley Cyrus



In the news lately for all the wrong reasons, Miley Cyrus looked almost elegant on the red carpet, in a white Versus Versace pantsuit. The jacket featured the label’s signature oversized gold safety pin accents. She paired her outfit with black Saint Laurent pumps and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Emma Roberts



Emma Roberts shimmered in a silver Lanvin gown, which was the perfect combination of boho-meets-chic. She carried a fuchsia Rodo clutch and wore Casadei pumps to match, which added a pop of colour to her outfit. Her side-swept hair, kohl-rimmed eyes and a nude pout looks very glam!

Katy Perry



Katy Perry looked ladylike in a dotted Oscar de la Renta Spring 2014 sheer tulle gown, accented with colourful, embroidered flowers. She carried a whimsical Olympia Le-Tan ‘Webster’s New World Dictionary’ box clutch and wore an oversized flower ring. We love the elegant Marcel waves and the bold red lip. We must say we love elegant Katy, and wish we saw her more often.

Ariana Grande



Ariana Grande shone on the red carpet in a red sequined Dolce & Gabbana gown. She accessorised with a black Jimmy Choo clutch, Sergio Rossi heels and diamond earrings and ring. We love the subtlety of the cat eye make-up, her matte lippie and her signature voluminous blonde pony.

Lady Gaga



Mother Monster made a dramatic entrance as she arrived on the red carpet, sitting atop a horse puppet, powered by two men. The Paparazzi songstress, who has recently been named as the face of Versace’s Spring 2014 campaign, unsurprisingly wore a creation from the same collection. Her lavender cut-out gown was accented with chains and charms. She left her long blonde locks open and looked like a fresher, younger version of Donatella Versace.
