Mobilising opinion: UN day against gender abuse

'Across the world, people are mobilising to stop the abuse of women and girls,' UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon said.

ISLAMABAD: The UN designated International Day for ‘Elimination of Violence against Women’ will be observed on November 25 to help raise public awareness of violence against women.  “Across the world, people are mobilising to stop the abuse of women and girls,” UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon said.  “This is no longer just the concern of women’s organisations.  More and more people realise that gender-based violence is everybody’s problem and that everybody is responsible to stop it,” he said. The global theme this year would is ‘Orange the World’.
