Fashion Police: Calf-lengthed and clumsy!

While we are fans of mid-calf length dresses and the femininity that celebs epitomise, we shuddered when we saw actor Elle Fanning’s ensemble at the 2013 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards.

Hair and make-up

The 14-year-old actor left her hair loose and failed to impress on the red carpet. Her red eye shadow and rusty lips verged on scary and made her appear older than her years.

Outfit

Granny alert! Fanning sported a shapeless knitted floral dress by Chanel. While we are fans of Chanel, we can’t say that we are fans of this look on her. The dress looked inelegant and was too mature for the petite young actor.

Accessories and shoes

Fanning wore minimal jewelry. The few accessories that she did choose neither stood out nor salvaged her look. Her silver and cream-coloured block heels shoes were a horrific choice, and looked ungainly and clumsy on the red carpet.

Allison Williams



The Girls actor sported a stunning, skin-tight purple leather L’Wren Scott dress at the CNN Heroes: An All Star Tribune event this year. Her twisted up do looked sleek and chic, and her black eyeliner and pink lips defined her features and highlighted her flawless skin. She accessorised intelligently and her patent black pumps were a total winner. The actor’s look surely ticks all the right boxes for us!

Kate Beckinsale



At the 2013 Pink Party presented by Elyse Walker, the actor looked gorgeous in a red, long sleeved, plunge V twist dress by Donna Karan. Her dark eyes and nude lips allowed the limelight to stay on her dress. With voluminous hair and glowing skin, Beckinsale looked spectacular! Her chunky black accessories didn’t overpower her beautiful dress, and her strappy heels perfectly tied the look together.

Miranda Kerr



Kerr looked stunning in a calf-length, cut-out Peter Pilotto dress. She flaunted the zesty colour and the geometric print effortlessly. The model spruced up her look with a high ponytail. The black eyeliner enhanced her gorgeous blue eyes and her red lips perfectly complemented the look. She kept her accessories to a bare minimum. And one can never go wrong with sleek pointed black pumps!
