Altaf was addressing MQM's party members in an emergency meeting on Saturday, almost 24 hours after back to back blasts in Karachi by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) that killed seven people and injured at least 28 in Ancholi, Federal B Area of Karachi. The blast site is minutes away from MQM's Karachi headquarters at Nine Zero.
Altaf said that if the security forces fail in stopping terror attacks from the TTP, people had the right to defend themselves as per Islamic injunctions and international laws.
Tell nation truth about Taliban
Altaf asked the government, political and religious parties to tell the nation the truth about the Taliban and their supporters, and how they were beasts and enemies of humanity.
The MQM chief was assured by party members that they were ready to fight the forces of evil.
Heartened by their response, Altaf asked the prime minister Nawaz Sharif, interior minister Chaudhry Nisar, members of the cabinet, religious and political parties to give up their politics of deceit and inform the nation of facts about the Taliban and their supporters.
Altaf said the public should be categorically told how the Taliban and their supporters were “beasts” who killed the innocent, a press release issued by the MQM about the meeting read.
The MQM chief deplored that Taliban supporters try to divert the public's attention from their gruesome acts by staging protests rallies against them.
“Taliban have been killing and executing innocent people. They try to hide their crimes by concealing facts and publishing fabricated stories about them,” the release read.
Altaf said that it was plain how facts were distorted after the recent drone attack in Hungu.
“They said that scores of Pakistanis had died in the [drone] attack and they would stage sit-ins to protest the attack,” the release added.
Altaf lamented that the twin bombing in Ancholi, in which at least seven people were killed and 28 were wounded, had not been condemned despite the Tehreek-e-Taliban accepting responsibility for the "brutal act.”

@amazing: wonderful , as for me i have always been supporting MQM , one needs to shed prejudices of various colours to see what is underneath. Look into history of MQM you would lwayd find liberal progressive all inclusive approach . More is propoganda and less is reality that MQM is violent party , every one is who visits NINE ZERO , is amazed at he system and order that is maintaned , well violence does not lead anyone to organization of this high standered .Dear pakistani shed ur prejudices and we will be able to appreciate good across all ethnicities MQM belives in merit and practices
@Noman: Same way some people justify supporting the Taliban and stage protest rallies in their favor
What every citizen need to do? Here is a lesson to learn from some Mexican people who organised to be free from crime. It was peoples’ 'self defence' movement against criminals. Read all : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2300381/Vigilantes-seize-town-Mexico
Extra-judicial killing is only bad if it is done to others.
In the last 3-4 days I had commented against political parties that are taking up the cause of talibans and supporting them. I had commented that the acts of these parties are nothing short of high-treason and that they are pushing the population to the brutal talibans. Some like @Rex Minor and @Balanced Person did not like my comments and commented on my use of @Raj-USA as my ID and went on to say that Indians are not trusted in countries where they become citizens.
Now, everyone can see sense in what I have been commenting. I repeat again that political parties that are showing sympathy to the talibans and advocating negotiations with them are in fact pushing the population of Pakistan to be ruled by the talibans. Many, like members of MQM and Shias, feel that talibans shall be vengeful and brutal to them. Supporting the talibans and advocating negotiations with them will only push these vulnerable groups to secede from Pakistan.
Yes, he is right. The government wants to spend on wastrels without realizing its frivolity. Every country requires security, law and order, economics, power shortages, tax collections that go a long way to make a country independent. USA is droning our country.......but we beg money from it. India is our border contestant....... why don't the parties demand peace talks with it. The TTP is mercilessly killing our soldiers and civilians, bombing our cities, and these parties want peace talks? Something has gone amiss somewhere or these people should be should be tried for treason. Salams
I agree with Altaf Bhai. It is first duty of Government to protect its citizens. Government is responsible for safety of its citizens ,but if Government fail to provide protection to its citizen.,Than every citizen has right to adopt other means to protect themselves.
And who is responsible for the attacks/killings your terrorist organization has carried out? You are no different.
Even this gentleman's statements are making more sense than Imran Khan.
Taliban, their supporters and sympathisers are beasts and so are the racketeers, mafiasos, extortionists and target killers being run out of a posh London locality. To me they are both the same because innocents died in this attack as well as in the one on the dreaded day of 12th May!
So Altaf bhai justifies terrorism once again.
Common people should defend theselves. Authorites are too afraid of terrorists or have joind hands with them. Best example is Imran Khan, who is an authority in KP but he has become B team of terrorists
I rarely agree with him, but he's 100% right. PMLN and PTI have sold out the blood of Pakistanis to the terrorists.
Its infruriating how Imran Khan maintained complete silence on TTP's proud admission of being responsible for the Ancholi crimes. And so did the other parties, including Nawaz Sharifs'. MQM is the only party to have the guts to publicly condemn the evil TTP.
And how do you justify self-exile?
I had grown all my life to assume MQM was a party of hate but I had been SO WRONG. I can't believe that Altaf is the only leader who takes ethical/moral stands in the time of need. When minorities need help or face persecution, his party takes a stand. When extremists murder innocent civilians and even military personnel, his party takes a stand. When some parties defend murderers of 50,000 Pakistanis openly, his party takes a stand against it.
What a man, what a team. Now all grown up and educated, I've learnt never to take things at face value or believe every propaganda spread by the rightists, not in America nor in Pakistan. I've gotta give kudos to Altaf and his team, well done sir!
Pakistanis who speak truth either lives abroad or graves in Pakistan
If Namaloom afrad can figure out and take care of the good old bad taliban, who am I to complain? But I suspect Mr Altaf is mere words, no action.
Political parties will have to decide whether they are with the Talibans or against them, they will have to say if they consider Talibans friend or a foe there can be no sitting on the fence any more
This coming from an Indian.
