‘Waar’ has so far earned Rs200,145,809 in a little over five weeks of screenings. The film was initially released on 53 screens at 35 cinemas all across Pakistan on Eidul Azha. It is still playing at five different sites, meaning it could go on to gross a higher total take from the domestic screenings.
Bilal Lashari's film, which had opened to sold out theatres, is still selling 30-40% of seats with films such as Sanjayleela Bhansali’s ‘Ramleela’ drawing packed houses. 'Waar' is also expected to see a limited release in neighbouring India, and the UK.
‘Waar’ owes its massive success at the box office primarily to a long public holiday when it opened on Eid. More importantly, ‘Waar’ has benefited from an exponential increase in the number of screens over the past year. Of the 63 working screens in Pakistan, 17 were added just in 2013. The advent of multiplexes has also seen the price of tickets double from an average price of Rs150 to Rs350.
The business has proven to be lucrative for entrepreneurs who are seen to be pouring in substantial amount money in opening up bigger and better cinemas in Pakistan. If the sociopolitical situation remains favourable for films, Pakistan could see the number of cinema screens to triple to 200 by 2015.

Waar is blockbuster film for us. Pakistani director should make such films and show on maximum screens
I loved the movie. The script, the music, the acting and the direction is awesome. The director has done justice to everything. The best part is that the movie did not have to take support of a love story to keep audience interested. The script was based on reality and that's what makes the movie strong. I cried many times while watching the movie on how still Pakistanis are being mistreated by Indians , feels like nothing has changed pre 1947 and post 1947.
I am going to see this movie for third time in a week.
Waar will strike gold in UAE hopefully.
35 cinemas and 53 screens in the entire country !!!!! sad to see this, delhi alone has more than 100 screens (this does not include the satellite towns of noida, gurgaon, faridabad and ghaziabad)
@SANE PAKISTANI: Yes so how big a joke are ur movies for them
@Hafiz: because here it's not a swarm of 1200 million poor (600 million outof those with no access to toilets) people having no source of entertainment than masala bollywod films
Why release it in India? Indians are a butt hurt bunch. They make anti Pakistan propaganda movies all the time, it is a commen trend among them, no body in Pakistan is bothered by that, yet when Indians are shown as the bad guys in a Pakistani movie, a movie which is only released in Pakistan, with NO pirated version online. Indians are crying all over the place, this shows you how pathetic Indian mentality is. Regardless, this movie is gonna be released abroad for Pakistanis over seas to watch and enjoy.
@ Gp65 . I agree with you about the hype created by silly channels. In fact, most film industries are based on hypes and exaggerated figures. Mein hoon Shahid Afridi was a super hit because in reality it cost a little over 1.5 crore and earned nearly 7 crore. That is why they don't care that it is on even youtube. I think even Waar must have cost 7 to 9 crore (couldn't get figures). . I asked Ali Zafar about the cost of Tere Bin Laden and he replied approx 3 Crore. If you ask any Indian, they claim that even a third grade film director charges 10 crore (because they have started to believe the media reports).
Just made a Google search and came up with this: "WAAR to release in the UK, USA and UAE from 11 December! Confirmed by distributors ARY Films. Details of cinemas to be released next week."
I shall definitely see this movie.
So this film made about 20cr PKR thats like 10cr INR. Lol I rest my case
Gp65, . If we follow your maths, all Indian films are flop too as per their figures. Your channels claims that your hero charges 40 Crore or even 70 Crore. Imagine the cost of heroine, directors, 1000s of technicians, 100s of dancers, stunt men, post production, international shoot etc. Now add 35% distributor, 30 Crore publicity............. yet the film maximum joins 100 crore club (now they have started talking about 200 crore). . If your super hit film made 100 crore, according to your calculations, it cannot even cover your heroe's fee... let alone being a mega success!
@ GP65
Films cost was $2 Million when dollar was 60-80 rupees per dollar. So it cost nearly 12-15 crore (film was made long time ago and it was post production and other factors that delayed it). . Producer of the film (ARY) is distributor as well. Publicity cost was extremely low as it was shown on the media channels of producer and free publicity (like youtube etc). No other channels (such as Geo) covered it.
I won't Mind Anti-India Movie if there would have some facts as "India as root Problem of Pakistani Problems" It's Blunt Lie .
About Indian Anti-Pakistani Films there is Fact on which films were based , As world saw in 2008 Mumbai attack and all pak sponsored terrorism in india and Kashmir which now whole world Accept.
@Hafiz hahaha.............now watch this before you compare bollywood to Lollywood...... Hollywood AVATAR 2.7 Billion dollars or 2700 million dollars bollywoods (copy-paste) krrish (three) 38.2 million dollars ONLY. is there any comparison, so before you speak make some sense.
@rahul........................LOLz, so you have to ask google where you were born...haha, sometimes they deliberately publish biaseness................... first ask about morality to your own film makers in the likes of border, loc, mission kashmir, sarfarosh etc. @Hafiz LoooooLz, ................. you don't need to show such flattery to please your masters..........well (Highest indian grossing) Krrish 3 earnings inr.240 crores means only $.38,263,200 or only paltery 38.2 Million dollars well HOLLYWOODS AVATAR earned $ 2,782,275,172 or 2.7 Billion dollars....................... till 50th highest U.S grossing movie The Amazing Spider-Man $752,216,557 or 752 Million dollars.....................haha, you even can't imagine to beat the record set by the 50th U.S ( highest grossing movie let alone the number 1). . . . . So Krrish 3 paltery 38 million dollars.......... Hollywoods 1.Avatar 2.7 Billion dollars, and 50th Spider-man 752 Million dollars.....LOLZ......... krrish 3 earnings earnings of 38 million dollars is like joke for Hollywood movies.
It would be great one if it will also released in Germany....
wow great work.. a good slap to propaganda antiPakistan movies of India like Border, LOC, mission kashmir, Sarfarosh, Khakhee, etc & many more. keep it up Pakistani directors.
@pakistani1 .. Oh .. So making propaganda movies is moral ??.. But it's good to see you guys taking of morality .. but you forgot your no 1 in porn searches ..
I recently watched Chennai express and I am still wondering what's special in it ? looks just an average grade movie
@Pakistani1: without quality/standard u can't sale and earn. so u have lack of basic knowledge.
@Zee: why??
This was not released in KP and Baluchistan ? Why ?
In india there are 3'500 cinemas they are bound to get 300+ core where pakistan only 35 cinemas so im very glad waar as made new record in history of Pakistan
@Hafiz: also compare Bollywood to Hollywood dear....
Where is Peshawar... In others!!!
@Jabbar: Another eye opener for people sympathizing with india. They are full of hate, cant even digest a successful movie from Pakistan
@Hafiz: That's because bollywood is ever ready to drop their standards and morals just to increase earnings
Sorry neighbours... We never meant to hurt you, we never meant to make you cry.... (esp @Hafiz)
good gee
Love to watch this movie. Any news on when it will be screened in USA?
We need more such movies to counter Indian moves and .. I wish Indian allowed our movie to release in India as Pakistan are doing in all over the Pakistan.
LOL...total earning so far even less one day's earning by bollywood movie. .
So Pakistan is all about 3 cities (making 88% of the business). SAD !!
Lol at ET dying to put the success on long holidays. Is not that true for all movies releasing on Eid?
