FBR releases tax data on services sector

The Federal Board of Revenue releases data in light of the negotiations on RGST amongst provinces and federation.

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has released data on the service sector in light of the negotiations on reformed general sales tax (RGST) amongst the provinces and the federation.

According to the data, there are 3,666 companies and individuals registered in the country which generate an output of Rs8.27 billion. Input for these services amounted to Rs2.6 billion.

The companies paid a total of Rs6.2 billion in sales tax, according to data. A total of 17,196 consumers filed an amount of Rs2.41 billion in input claims from these companies.

The services include beauty parlours, brokerages, catering, hotels, food and drinks supplies, dry cleaners, studios and shipping and clearing agents amongst others. Notable absentees from this list include the telecommunications sector, insurance, banking and advertisement.
