The Sindh government has decided to start 218 new development schemes to facilitate its citizens. The decision was taken during a meeting headed by Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
The new development schemes have an estimated cost of Rs38 billion, which is included in the current annual development plan (ADP 2013-14). The finance department was asked to release Rs3.5 billion on an urgent basis for these schemes.
The government has approved 600 new development schemes which amount to an estimated cost of Rs70.4 billion; however the selected 218 schemes will be of higher priority. The chief minister has directed the ACS Development to introduce and impose the system of a third-party validation and not to pay the cost of schemes until certified through the third-party validation.
The development plans are to be prepared by private consultant firms before they are planned. A sum of Rs400 million has been approved for plans by consultant firms for 19 towns.
