Tennis: Manzar, Bhagat, Panju cruise into semis

Muhammad Manzar, Ali Bhagat and Ali Panju cruised into the semi-finals of the AJ Mirza Pharma Pakistan International Tennis Federation Seniors Championship 2013 singles event at the Karachi Gymkhana yesterday.


Manzar defeated Farzan Haleem 6-1, 6-0 in the first quarter-final of the day, while Ali outclassed Salman Maniya 6-1, 6-0. Ali Pajnu outplayed Asad Bhagat 6-1, 6-4 in the third match.

Meanwhile, Shahid Aziz defeated Irfanullah Awan 6-2, 6-4 and Israr Gul edged past Roger Dawood Bayat 6-2, 6-3 in the plus 45 singles first round. Shahzad Saleem and Akhter Ali Maan also progressed into the second round after receiving walkovers.
