LAHORE:

The Tourism Development Corporation Punjab’s Youth Tourism Wing has launched a youth tourism awareness programme for students of grade six and beyond.

TDCP Managing Director Habibur Rehman Gilani told The Express Tribune that under the programme, students will be provided information and training for work in tourism sector.

Youth Affairs Programme Manager Sarah Qureshi said, “The programme aims to sensitise and educate the youth regarding the importance of tourism and how they can contribute to it.”

She said the programme had been divided into three components: awareness about tourism opportunities in Pakistan, study tours and information regarding careers in tourism.

Qureshi said the programme also aimed to link tourism and other sectors. She said it would help inform students about careers and opportunities in the tourism sector. It would also encourage greater collaboration between public and private sectors as far as tourism was concerned, she said.

Under the programme, the TDCP will organise seminars, lectures, documentaries, presentations and jingles regarding the potential of the tourism industry.

Debate and quiz competitions will be  held and tourism ambassadors will also be designated to create awareness regarding careers in tourism.
