PESHAWAR: Security forces and the Adezai peace militia raided a house in Zakhel village Sunday morning and arrested a man on suspicion.

A joint team of security forces and members of the peace militia cordoned off a house and searched it. They arrested the suspect identified as Anwarul Haq and shifted him to an unknown location for interrogation.

However, the owner of the house Noorul Haq accused peace committee members of identifying their opponents as militants to security forces. “We had a dispute with some members of the lashkar but we have nothing to do with militants,” claimed Noor. Lashkar members had gotten several of their opponents arrested in the past as well, he maintained.

Houses bombed

Meanwhile, an explosion destroyed the gate of a house in Hayatabad Phase-3. According to the police, the device had been planted near Dr Tufail’s house. The owner told police he had no disputes which led the police to suspect the explosion could be an attempt at extortion.

In a separate incident in Yousafabad, the main gate of another house was destroyed in a small blast within the jurisdiction of Paharipura police station.  According to police, the owner of the residence, Roohul Amin is an Afghan national.   Around 500 grammes of explosives were used in each bomb.
