Keeping it all in the family

MULTAN: Stage performer Qasoor Haideri’s son is to marry two of his first cousins within two days of each other.

Qasoor Haideri on the wishes of family elders arranged his son’s engagement to his two nieces. Haideri is the father of nine daughters and Azhar is his only son.

“I wanted him to marry two of my nieces and Azhar agreed to the match as he had known both girls since he was a child,” Qasoor said, adding that the family had put a lot of pressure on him regarding the marriage. “One of my sisters wanted him to marry her daughter and my brother wanted him to marry his daughter so we decided that he would end up marrying both,” Qasoor said.

Relatives of the family said that they were surprised to see the wedding cards that stated ‘Azhar Haideri will marry Humera Qasim and Romana Aslam’. According to the family, the matter had been discussed at length and both girls had agreed to the marriage and were close friends.

According to Qasoor, Humera Qasim will marry Azhar on October 17 and then she will apply henna to the hands of his second wife Romana who will marry Azhar on October 19. Both women will share the same Rukhsati ceremony on October 19.
