Vigilance: Police arrest 230 suspected criminals, 102 absconders

The Islamabad Police have arrested 230 suspected criminals and 102 absconders during the past two weeks for alleged involvement in criminal cases, according to a police spokesman.


Officials have also recovered 472 wine bottles, 3.6 kilograms of hashish, 1.05 kilograms of opium, two motorcycles, 35 pistols, nine rifles, two Kalashnikov rifles and counterfeit currency worth millions of rupees from the suspects.

Five cars with bogus registration plates were also recovered during the two-week period.

Inspector General of Police Sikandar Hayat had directed all heads of police stations to curb criminal activities and had ordered a crackdown against proclaimed offenders and court absconders.

Following the directions, officials from various police stations arrested the suspects and absconders during raids.

The police also apprehended 370 beggars during the past two weeks.
