LAHORE:

The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) will distribute 90,000 vouchers to deserving students for studies up to secondary school at low-fee private schools, PEF spokesman said on Sunday.

The Education Voucher Scheme aims to provide free quality education to deserving children so that they do not drop out.

The voucher will cover the cost of text books and tuition fee, said the spokesman.

He said 50,000 of the vouchers will be distributed among students from Faisalabad, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur. The PEF will carry out a verification process to check whether the students fit the organisation’s criteria, he said. “90,000 students will benefit from the programme,” said the spokesman, “We are especially targeting girl students who cannot travel long distances to attend affordable schools.”
