Black magic: Blind murder mystery resolved

Sub Inspector Butt told Express Tribune that Haji Muhammad Lateef was found dead on August 15.

FAISALABAD: Khurarianwala police said on Friday they had traced the murderer of a man killed for blood to be used for black magic. Sub Inspector Manzoor Ahmad Butt told The Express Tribune that Haji Muhammad Lateef, a tenant in Rehmania Colony on Jhumra Road, was found killed on August 15. He said the post-mortem examination report revealed that Lateef had been murdered. He said there were cuts on the neck. He said the suspect, Tariq Abdullah, was arrested and confessed to the killing. He told police that he had been asked by a pir to bring him the blood of a recently killed human. He said he had discovered that Lateef was alone at his house so he went in and killed him in his sleep. Police said they had also recovered the weapon used in the killing. They said the suspect had buried it in his house. The SI said police were now looking for the pir. He said a place was raided on information obtained from Abdullah, but he (pir) was not there. The SI said investigation had revealed that the pir had asked several other people to do the same.
