Development planning: Rs5.8 billion allotted for various schemes

Punjab government approves six development projects.

LAHORE: The planning division of the government of Punjab on Wednesday approved six development schemes of various sectors at an estimated cost of Rs5.8 billion.

These schemes were approved during the 16th meeting of the provincial development working party for current fiscal year 2013-14, presided over by Punjab Planning and Development Board Chairman Muhammad Irfan Elahi.

According to a handout issued by the Planning and Development Department, the approved development schemes included feasibility for the establishment of National Safari Park near Kallar Kahar, Chakwal District (PC-II) at a cost of Rs2 million, enhancing capacity of Shahdara Railway Bridge and old GT Road Bridge on Ravi in Lahore at a cost of Rs3.6 billion, construction of J-Head spur and excavation of Cunette to streamline river flow away from the left bank of Indus River near the village of Aluwali Dhingana and Doaba in Mianwali District at a cost of Rs358 million.

The schemes also included establishment of a 60-bed hospital in Sabzazar Scheme Lahore at a cost of Rs277 million, widening/improvement of Gujranwala-Pasrur Road in Gujranwala District and Sialkot at a cost of Rs1.1 billion and rehabilitation, widening and improvement of Khushab Muzaffargarh Road Jhang District at a cost of Rs347 million.
