Govt mandates pet dog registration
.

The Punjab government has issued a registration form for keeping pet dogs in both urban and rural areas, including private homes, farmsteads, and neighbourhood streets.
Individuals keeping pet dogs will be required to complete a detailed registration form containing the full record of the animal and submit it to either the Livestock Department office or the relevant Union Council (UC) office.
For this registration, the owner must also submit an affidavit on a stamp paper worth Rs300, declaring whether the dog is kept as a hobby, for household security, or for business purposes.
The registration form requires comprehensive details, including the name of the owner, the breed of the dog, and other relevant information. All particulars must be accurately provided.
Owners will also be obligated to ensure that their dogs are regularly vaccinated through authorised livestock departments.
For public safety, it has been stipulated that pet dogs must be kept restrained, and they will not be permitted to roam freely in public spaces.
