NAB submitted a reference against him in the Accountability Court over his alleged involvement in embezzlement worth billions of rupees in the RPP case.
The decision to submit the 263-page reference to the Accountability Court was taken during an executive board meeting.
Ashraf was accused of misusing authority and embezzling billions of rupees while serving as minister for water and power in the then prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s cabinet. According to NAB officials, the former premier had allegedly misused his authority to secure financial benefits by awarding contracts illegally in almost all RPP cases.
The bureau had earlier sent preliminary references against nine accused to the accountability court in the Naudero-II case. The references accuse the nine individuals of misusing authority and flouting rules and regulations while awarding the Naudero-II RPP contract and shifting equipment from one project to another.
The Accountability Court will hear the case on November 29.

Is Gilani next?
This should give Raja Ashraf the opportunity to clear his name if he is innocent. He has had enough of bad press. Lets wait when NAB nominates Shareef brothers!
will go free as usual..
In Pakistan all government officials including judiciary overpass their limits of authority and use their discreetion to handle the matter in a way that are beneficial to them financially. Similar is the case with politicians when they hold post top slots. So this not a surprize for the public. All strong politicians and government officials under the present and corrupt government system escape from the law safely. It is only the poor citizens against whom the law is implemented for punishing them.
About time!
