Going green: 3 million trees planted so far

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Three million trees have been planted in the division during the on-going sapling campaign, Commissioner Khan Muhammad Ameen Chaudhry said on Tuesday. He was addressing a meeting about the campaign. Chaudhry said the department had set a plantation target of 4 million trees across the division. He said the officials were striving to free Forest Department land from grabbers and plant more trees. He urged officers to expedite the campaign. He said strict action would be taken against the officials submitting exaggerated figures of plantation.  The commissioner was informed that 720,000 trees had been planted in Dera Ghazi Khan district; 1.05m in Layyah; 830,000 in Rajanpur; and 360,000 in Muzaffargarh district.  DCOs Ghazi Amanullah, Farasat Iqbal, Nadeemur Rehman, Arts Council Resident Director Wahid Bukhsh Jatoi, ACG Malik Abdul Jabbar, and Director (Development and Finance) Sikandar Ali Bukhari were also present.
