If cooperation could not be extended to the process of eliminating the menace of terrorism, then at least it should not have been damaged, Nawaz said.
He was chairing a special meeting of the federal cabinet at the Prime Minister house in Islamabad.
Addressing the meeting, Nawaz expressed confidence that the peace process will not be allowed to derail.
The cabinet decided to continue efforts for the dialogue process.
The premier said Pakistan had every right to take decisions and formulate strategy in the interest of the country. "The ice was melting and contacts had been established from both the sides."
"Amidst this scenario, the drone strike inflicted serious damage to the government's efforts for dialogue and peace."
Nawaz pointed out the continuation of an unfortunate and condemnable practice of the drone attacks manifested that Pakistan's view point for the permanent elimination of terrorism and the establishment of durable peace was not understood.
"If there cannot be cooperation with the process we have initiated to end terrorism by leaving the path of revenge, it should at least not be damaged."
The recent All Parties Conference (APC) decision to pursue dialogue for peace proved that entire political and military leadership‚ people‚ media and civil society wanted a resolution to the issue of terrorism through serious and meaningful dialogue, Nawaz said. He added that the world community also wants an end to the bloodshed.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan was fully conscious of the menace of terrorism, as it has been affected by terrorism more than any other country. He added that the state should be allowed to resolve the issue according to its own strategy.

Govt cheating mass people showing false peace talk
@salman: sir as your IK claimed time and again your so called nine year war did not fetch you any meaningful gains. This being a fact accepted in general, how do you have hope that you will win in what you call as civil war. if you seriously look back, you can find many half hearted actions were and are the real reason for where you stand / are today. I do agree your claims about external trouble makers. But unfortunately a nation's strength lies on its ability to overcome those unavoidable hurdles in this deadly world. This happens to every country. Some handle the issues by heart while some use brain. Hope you agree. Thanks.
PTI and PMLN - Terrorists supporters who were spared by the TTP during the elections now show their love for terrorists and true face to the Pakistani public and the world at large.
@Jibran: Serious question bro. What's your strategy then? Should we declare all out war on TTP? What if we can't win it? Ever considered that possibility?
Alternatively, what if you do sit down with TTP and negotiate them down? Is that also not a possibility?
We'll never know until we try. If it fails the option of all out war is always there. But then lets call it a civil war.....because thats what it will be.
Government should pursue talks with the TTP for the benefit of the country for the following reasons; 1) TTP will have to make their Negotiating demands PUBLIC for all to read about, and the government must not agree to keep their demands secret! All should be able to read about the vision that the TTP wants for Pakistan so that the effects on everyday life can be judged by each Pakistani! 2) THE LACK OF A COHESIVE TTP STRUCTURE WILL BECOME EVIDENT, so The government may have to "negotiate" with possibly many/multiple separate entities with differing agendas! (Just how many TTP type sub groups are really out there?) 3) This "negotiation" may finally expose the folly of talking to TTP, resulting in the government finally getting support from all/most Pakistanis to militarily take out the trash!
TTP spared PMLN and PTI in the last elections and targeted their opponents. It's the payback time now.
PMLN and PTI have taken oath to protect and serve the interests of TTP. There was no emergency meeting after the bloodbath in the church, or the killings of the ministers, policemen, generals and the soldiers. However, when a mass murderer is taken down, there is a race between Maulvi Nawaz Sharif and Taliban Khan to demonstrate their loyalty. This is sick.
Just call them in the parliament and let taliban establish the law. they have not given a damn about tany governemnt, parliament, army, media or innocent pakistanis. mehsud killing shouldnt have been mounred.
What strategy??? Dialogue with those who want a new constitution, who want the armed forces out of Waziristan, want all their arrested criminals released, and who refuse to disarm..... the Utopia you live in is unbelievable!!! Such innocence isn't even funny as human lives daily are at risk of being blown to pieces, without mention of the damage to the future of Pakistan!!
Now people who voted for PML-N and PTI must have realised that they actually voted in TTP in Pakistan.
