Fashion Police: Leopard Disaster

We can’t figure out whether Zhalay's outfit belongs to a Western fashion category or an Eastern one.

We can’t figure out whether Zhalay's outfit belongs to a Western fashion category or an Eastern one.

Actor Zahlay Sarhadi is not really a style icon but she never fails to impress on the red carpet. She is usually dressed to the T and knows how to carry herself. Hence, it came as a surprise when she chose to wear this mismatched, tacky outfit at the launch of Orea biscuits. We are truly appalled.

Hair and make-up

It’s disappointing to see people with such beautiful long hair not make any effort to spruce it up. Her hair looks lifeless and untamed from the ends and really needs some extra volume. We wish she had gone for a more voluminous, wavy blow-dry or had simply tied it up in a sleek up-do. Zahlay has a gorgeous dusky skin tone but here, her face appears rather cakey and bland. While her beautiful kohl-rimmed eyes stand out, that pale pink shade of lipstick makes her look a bit too dull.

Outfit

We can’t figure out whether her outfit belongs to a Western fashion category or an Eastern one. It seems she mistook a black sequined lace dress for a kameez and made the horrible choice of pairing it with printed leopard tights. While printed skinnies are en vogue, this particular combination looks mismatched, and that cotton ball lace around her sleeves is completely out of place.

Accessories and shoes

We’ll give Zahlay credit for choosing the right accessories. Considering her busy outfit, she kept the bling to a minimal by sporting a couple of rings and a chunky gold bracelet. While there is nothing wrong with wearing t-strapped heels, somehow they don’t gel with her outfit and look way too heavy on her feet. A pair of sling back stilettos or mules would have been better.

Bail out!

Moomal Sheikh

The actor looked stunning in leopard printed pants and a nude top at the launch of Designer Lounge. She added oomph to her look by sporting a vintage up-do and chunky gold metallic accessories.

Gayatri Oberoi

The Swades actor looked cool and casual in light leopard printed skinnies and an off-white loose knit top at Indian designer Anita Dongre’s Cafe-Schokolaad Launch. Gayatri keeps it simple yet uber-stylish in a layered hair-do, nude slingbacks and a chunky gold watch.

Sameera Reddy

The sultry actor makes good use of the leopard print by wearing it as a chic sheer top at the Filmfare nomination party. She looks classy by pairing it with black dress pants, super-chic belt and shimmery gold peep-toes.
