Local elections: Opposition wants revision of delimitation

'Winning elections through rigging is not PPP’s way. It’s what PML-Q and PML-N try to do,' says former Punjab governor

Officials say that the delimitation of constituencies is being carried out for political gains.

“Winning elections through rigging is not the Pakistan Peoples Party’s way. It’s what Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid and the PML-N try to do,” former Punjab governor Makhdoom Ahmad Mehmood said on Friday.


He was addressing a protest camp in front of the office of the Rahim Yar Khan district coordination officer. The protesters alleged unfair delimitation.

Addressing the protest camp, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Chaudhry Zafar Iqbal Warraich said the way the PML-N’s delimitation it was evident that they had not learnt from democracy and still thought along the lines of dictators.

He said the delimitation was unfair and that the opposition’s protest would continue until corrections were made to the division of areas in the district.

Former provincial minister Chaudhry Shaukat Dawood and Jamaat-i-Islami’s district president Chaudhry Riaz Ahmad Noor were also present.
