LAHORE:

A consumer court on Friday summoned the owner of a mobile phone shop in a suit seeking Rs200,000 damages.

Muhammad Ismail told the court he had bought a used Nokia mobile phone for Rs3,000 from Shan Mobile at Samanabad.

He said the owner of the shop, Muhammad Shan, had assured him of the phone’s quality. Ismail said Shan had told him that he would be responsible for repair of the phone if a fault occurred.

Ismail said after a few days, the phone developed a fault and switched off on its own.

Ismail said he took the phone to Shan who repaired but two days later, it developed the same fault.

He said when he took the phone to Shan for a second time, he refused to repair it.

He asked the court to direct the respondent to pay him Rs200,000 damages.

Talking to The Express Tribune Shan said that he had not sold a defective mobile phone to Ismail. He said it had developed only a minor fault which had been repaired.
