Water and power: Senate irked over minister’s absence

Senate Standing Committee resents persistent absence of the Minister for Water and Power from committee meetings.

ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing Committee on Water and Power on Wednesday strongly resented what they said was the persistent absence of the Minister for Water and Power and its Secretary from the meetings of the committee. The committee unanimously decided to cancel the meeting in protest and write a letter to the prime minister for taking notice of the non-cooperation from the minister. The chairman senate would also be apprised about the situation. Committee Chairman Zahid Khan said the minister has persistently been absent from the sessions of the committee since assuming the charge of the ministry. The committee decided to write a letter to the secretary for Water and Power to explain the reason of the absence for the session of the committee. The committee directed the secretary to ensure his presence in the next meeting.
