No casualties: Police vehicle damaged in roadside blast

The vehicle narrowly escaped the attack.

BANNU: A mobile van of Miryan police was partially damaged when a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) went off early Wednesday morning. Policemen occupying the vehicle narrowly escaped the attack.

A Miryan police official said they received information from some locals about a suspicious canister lying in front of Mandio Girls High School, Bannu, following which they rushed to the site.



The official explained when the police mobile reached the basic health unit BHU) in Mandio area at 7:50am, a bomb already planted along the roadside by unidentified militants exploded and damaged the vehicle. He confirmed no loss of life was reported in the incident.

He informed the canister lying in front of the girls high school was only filled with mud and an FIR of the first incident has been registered against unidentified militants.

Meanwhile, the main gate of a police official’s residence was damaged in the limits of Cantonment police station when an explosive device went off near it. A Bannu Cantt police official said the bomb was planted by unidentified militants in front of the house of Sardar Ali, whose two sons are serving in the police. He added no casualty was reported.
