Six months: Rs250m recovered in vehicle token tax

Vehicle owners now had to pay Rs17,500 instead of Rs10,000 for lifetime token tax.

MULTAN: The Excise and Taxation Department has recovered Rs250 million in token tax from 45,000 vehicle owners in the first half of the year, Excise and Taxation Director Jam Siraj said on Monday. Siraj said the department had announced a scheme for 1,000 CC (or above) vehicle owners through which they could pay a lifetime token by paying Rs10,000. He said about 45,000 vehicle owners had been facilitated through the scheme. Siraj said that the Federal Board of Revenue had increased token tax by Rs7,500. Vehicle owners now had to pay Rs17,500 instead of Rs10,000 for lifetime token tax.
