Productivity: ‘Farmers need to apply new techniques’

FAISALABAD: “Farmers need to apply and promote new techniques to increase agricultural produce and tackle food insecurity,” said University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) Vice Chancellor Iqrar Ahmed Khan said on Saturday.

He was speaking the Farmers Convention at the UAF. The VC said famers should cultivate pulses and sugarcane. “Pakistan annually imports pulses and palm oil worth Rs3.5 billion,” he said. Food Security Secretary Seerat Asghar, and CIMMYT Director General Thomas Lumpkin also spoke on the occasion.
