For the longest, Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai was just Ash for her loyal fans, photographers and the industry in general. However, it seems that people can’t even refer to her in first name, let alone the nickname because the Bachchan family is way too protective of their daughter-in-law.

At a recent party by B-town film-maker Subhash Ghai, a group of photographers called out to Aishwarya to pose for them. However, according to the Times of India, what they got in return was some tongue-lashing by her agitated mother-in-law, actor Jaya Bachchan. She threw a fit and shouted, “Kya Aishwarya Aishwarya bula rahe ho, tumhare class mein padhti thi kya? [Why are you calling her Aishwarya? Was she your classmate?]”

Aishwarya, on the other hand, maintained her calm and hurried to the car with Mrs Big B without any response. At an earlier event even hubby Abhishek Bachchan also lost his cool when the media referred to his wife as Ash. Guess this is their way of telling the world that they are besotted with bahu Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Talk about in laws overstepping boundaries. If the woman herself doesn't mind why on earth do people think it's their place to comment on what others should call her. Strange. Used to be a fan of Jaya Bachchan; lately she sounds like a bitter mean-spirited woman.
