Two civilians were injured on Friday in unprovoked firing by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) on the working boundary in Sialkot district. Pakistan’s paramilitary Rangers effectively responded to the Indian firing which also injured dozens of cattle in the border villages in Charwah sector, Sialkot.
Director General Chenab Rangers Maj Gen Tahir Khan said that he has directed the sector commanders of his force not to target civilian population on the Indian side under any circumstances.
“Troops have been ordered to return fire to the Indian border post from where it comes,” he told reporters. He added that the Chenab Rangers never violated the working boundary and Line of Control, “We never fired the first shot, it was always the BSF that targeted our posts and civilian population and for that we gave a befitting reply.”
