Procuring tap chargers: NTDC involved in corruption scam

NTDC is guilty of anti-competitive practices, causing losses of approximately Rs 9.12 billion to national exchequer.

News Desk October 24, 2013

Transparency International Pakistan on Wednesday told the minister of water and power that National Transmission & Despatch Company (NTDC) was involved in cartelisation with Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen Germany (MR Germany) and is guilty of anti-competitive practices, causing losses of approximately Rs 9.12 billion to the national exchequer. The heavy loss has been caused by NTDC for favouring tap chargers only from MR Germany. A commission was set up by the Competition Commission of Pakistan on the complaint filed by 7AAYS Corporation against NTDC and five others who alleged that the Competition Act 2010 was violated by allowing MR Germany to monopolise the procurement of Power/Auto transformers since four decades. TIP in its letter urged the minister to take action against corrupt practices and officers involved.

As Mr. Gilani says ” you need to leave a ‘tip’ for TIP” If you dont pay you get into trouble with TIP. Well documented by express tribune in:
