MULTAN:

A 59-year-old primary school teacher in Khanewal has been accused of sexually assaulting a five-year-old student on Wednesday.

Police said a case had been registered ageist the suspect, who they said, was missing. The child was taken to a hospital, where doctors said that he was suffering from shock.

The child’s father told the police that he had enrolled his son at a government school in Chak 12/8-R, Makhdoompur Pahora, under the district emergency education enrolment programme.

On Wednesday, the father said, during a class the teacher called his son to stand next to the seat he was sitting on. He said his son told him that the teacher held his face, and kissed him on the cheeks. He then bit him so hard on the cheeks that it caused bleeding.

He said when his son started crying, he left the class. He said he was later informed by the school office that his son had injured himself.

He said he met the teacher on the way to school.

“He just said that he did not hurt my son intentionally and offered an apology. I thought he had beaten my son and now regretted it.”

He said the teacher also said that he had not realised how he had done it.

He said it was later on the way to the Khanewal district headquarters hospital that his son told him what had happened.

Dr Muhamamd Tahir, who treated the child, said that both his cheeks were badly injured. He said it would take two months for the soft tissues to develop. He said there were prominent marks of teeth on both cheeks.

Station House Officer Zaki Rehan told The Express Tribune that a police team was looking for the suspect. He said the father has complained that the school headmaster and some teachers were asking him not to file a case and forgive the suspect, if he had apologised.

The SHO said that initial investigations indicated that the suspect had also harassed six other students. He said parents of another five-year-old girl in the area told police that the suspect had tried to molest her few weeks ago. They said they had withdrawn their daughter from the school, and did not mention the matter to anyone.

@Sidra Humayun: I agree with everything you have said except "molestation is kind of sexual abuse" It is sexual abuse!

The father should let loose his Dobberman on the "teacher" making him bite his cheeks. Then he should offer his apology like this vermin did and settle the matter. How is that for justice?
