LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday suspended a Rs5,000 fine imposed on National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq by an election tribunal for not replying to an application from PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

Sadiq’s counsel submitted that his client had received the tribunal's notices after a long delay. Sadiq had sought more time to reply to Khan’s allegations of rigging in NA-124, but the tribunal had fined him instead. He asked the court to suspend the fine.

The court did so, sought a reply from the respondents and then adjourned the till February 13.
