LAHORE:

A consumer court issued a notice to the proprietor of a tailoring shop in a suit seeking Rs500,000 as damages for not stitching the petitioner’s outfit on time. The petitioner claimed he could not attend his relative’s wedding because of that.

Petitioner Muhammad Sajid said that last month, he gave Muhammad Azam, the proprietor of Azam Stitching Master, Islampura, material to sew an outfit that he planned to wear to a relative’s wedding. He said the proprietor told him to collect the outfit in a week. When he went to collect the outfit, Sajid said, it had not been stitched. “This caused me great humiliation... I couldn’t attend the wedding,” he said.

He asked the court to direct the respondent to pay him Rs500,000 as damages.

Muhammad Azam, the proprietor, told The Express Tribune that he had promised to stitch the petitioner’s outfit in a week but had to ask for one extra day. The petitioner did not return to collect his outfit, he said. “Everyone knows that load shedding has affected business. The petitioner should understand that,” he said.
