An additional district and sessions judge has sought comments from the Shahdara SHO on a petition by a man seeking a case against his cousin for allegedly refusing to return his wife’s jewellery.
Muhammad Shahid submitted that his cousin Muhammad Fareed had visited him a month ago to borrow the jewellery, containing 10 tolas of gold, so his wife could wear it at a wedding. Fareed had promised to return it the day after, he said, but had stopped answering his phone.
Shahid said that when he finally contacted his cousin a couple of weeks later, Fareed made some excuses. Now, he had become increasingly belligerent and had threatened to kill him if he asked for the jewellery again, Shahid said. He asked the court to direct the SHO to register a case against Fareed.
