Caught red-handed: Drug peddler jailed for three years

The court also imposed a fine of Rs10,000.

KARACHI: A district and sessions court sentenced on Tuesday a man to three years in prison in a drug peddling case. The court found the accused, Lal Bukhsh, guilty of carrying 200 grams of hashish at the time of his arrest in Ghazi Town in 2011. A district and sessions judge in Malir, Muhammad Yamin, announced the verdict after hearing both sides. The court also imposed a fine of Rs10,000. In case he fails to pay the amount, the convict will have to undergo an additional three months in prison. In its verdict, the court observed that the prosecution witnesses fully implicated the accused in the case and the same was corroborated by the documentary evidence. The court dismissed his post-arrest bail and sent him to jail to carry out the sentence.
