Taking a stand: AKU to host breast cancer conference

KARACHI: The Aga Khan University (AKU) will be hosting a breast cancer conference on October 26 and October 27. Pre-conference workshops have also been scheduled for October 25 and will be open to oncology students and professionals. Prominent doctors, including Dr Tayyaba Ansari, will address the various problems faced by breast cancer patients and the required treatment procedures in special cases. The conference will bring issues, such as chemotherapy, breast surgery, pregnant patients, as well as, breast cancer imaging and intervention, into the limelight. The main objectives of the seminar are to reinforce principles of surgery on axilla, to understand early and advanced breast cancer management, to identify the significance of surgical margins, to be familiar with breast cancer in young women and to be informed of breast reconstruction.
