Neon colours are inarguably this season’s hottest trend.
However, caution is the watchword when it comes to adorning your ensemble with neon hues. Actor Gwyneth Paltrow has made fashion faux pas over the years but this one just takes the cake! At the Met Ball this year, Paltrow sported a gown that was a big neon no! Not only was her look antithetical to the punk-themed event, but it also failed to dazzle on the red carpet. Paltrow really needs to raise her style quotient!

Hair and make-up
Paltrow’s hair and make-up certainly didn’t fit the bill. While we love the dim make-up-bright outfit combo, her gown overwhelmed the rest of her look. The black eyeliner, light pink cheeks and nude lips looked lacklustre, and her backcombed high ponytail appeared to be flat and thin.
Outfit
Someone call 911! Paltrow’s neon pink Valentino couture gown was a major fashion miss. The gown, which has a see-through strip across the chest and sheer panels, lacked the oomph that comes naturally with neon colours. The dress looked heavy and clumsy and the trail only added to its bulkiness. The outfit did nothing to enhance the actor’s slim and sleek figure.
Accessories and shoes
Although we love minimal accessories with over-the-top looks, we wonder as to whether this was the right way to go for Paltrow. Perhaps, colour blocking with some jewellery could have redeemed this look.

Vanessa Hudgens
Actor Vanessa Hudgens looked smouldering hot at the Women in Film Pre-Oscars Party last year. Her look is proof of the unyielding fashion trend that neon colours have been. We love her simple bright tangerine Tibi dress! The Amrapali half-moon earrings and gold cuff elevated her refreshing look. We are fans of the bold eyes and nude lips and, of course, the black nails! And she sported a bob like no other!
Deepika Padukone
Actor Deepika Padukone never fails to surprise us with her super sexy looks. Padukone wore a neon yellow and pink Arpita Mehta sari during the promotions of Chennai Express and, might we add, looked fabulous! The embroidered blouse and plain sari paired with mid-length earrings and a bindi enhanced her traditional look. Her rosy cheeks and lips and brown eye-makeup looked slick. And the puffed up ponytail was a winner!
Lisa Snowdon
Model Lisa Snowdon arrived in style at the 2013 Glamour Women of the Year Awards. She looked uber chic in a Richard Nicoll neon yellow floral jacquard mini dress with a vented hem and thin shoulder straps. The colour complemented her skin tone. With bold eyes and nude lips and nails, Snowdon looked fresh and perfect for a summer day. And like we always say, nude platforms make everything look good!
